Our International Partnerships
Handforth Grange Primary School has been awarded the Silver Level of the prestigious Global School Awards in recognition of its whole school commitment to creative and innovative global education.
The Global School Awards celebrate the achievements of schools that do outstanding work in developing and embedding the key value, wide power and impactful benefits of global education. Supporting and celebrating the global dimensions of teaching and learning have always been at the heart of the work of the Global School Alliance so that all pupils can gain the skills, knowledge and experiences required for living and working in today’s globalised world.
Handforth Grange Primary School takes great pride in developing strong partnerships with Sichuan Tianfu Primary School, affiliated with No. 3 Middle School in Chengdu, and Agora Lledo International School in Spain. The ambition is to establish a robust and enduring partnership seamlessly integrated into the school’s curriculum and broader educational environment.
In a recent collaborative project with the Sichuan Tianfu Primary School, the focus has been on further enhancing the Geography curriculum in Key Stage 1, with a specific emphasis on exploring the Chengdu region. HGPS and Sichuan Tianfu have also been jointly researching major cities, such as London and Chengdu, fostering discussions on their similarities and differences through virtual platforms. Children from both schools have recently established cross-cultural connections by exchanging heartfelt letters, written in another language.
Looking ahead, the children from UKS2 at Handforth Grange Primary School are eagerly anticipating the opportunity to visit Spain and China in 2024, providing them with enriching experiences and a broader global perspective.
Lucy Brown, Teacher at Handforth Grange Primary School has successfully been certified as a Global School Alliance International Coordinator. Handforth Grange are actively working towards their Gold Global School Award.
