Safeguarding children is a priority at Handforth Grange Primary School.
All adults within our school have a responsibility for Safeguarding.
Designated Safeguarding Lead is: Mrs Andrea Booth
Deputy Safeguarding Lead is: Miss Leigh Green
Deputy Safeguarding Lead is: Mrs Jess Dolby
All adults named above have completed Intermediate Level 2 safeguarding training, led by the Local Safeguarding Children Board, as well as specialist Level 3 training provided by the Cheshire East Safeguarding Children In Education Service.
All staff have completed Basic Awareness Training, which was completed in September 2023 and all copies of staff certificates are held within school. During staff meetings the staff complete a scenario to ensure they understand how to deal with differing situations appropriately. Mrs Booth regularly provides Safeguarding updates and additional training when necessary.
Named Governor responsible for Safeguarding is: Mrs Sarah Milward
All staff, governors, students (16+) and volunteers are required to undertake a DBS check and all DBS details are kept in a Single Central Record (SCR) within the main office.
All adults in school are required to wear a Handforth Grange Identification Badge, and must sign in at the school office where they will be given the appropriate school badge with the safeguarding procedures attached.
All staff recruitment panels include a person who has completed appropriate ‘Safer Recruitment In Education’ training.
The Safeguarding policy (and its related policies) form a central part of the new staff induction process. All of the policies are reviewed annually or when new information is provided. These policies are available to view on the policies page.
We believe that it is important to make children and young people aware of behaviour towards them that is not acceptable. Our school assemblies, half termly values and PSHE curriculum supports children in recognising when their personal safety is being compromised. The school also signposts access to support for pupils by displaying Childline posters and contact telephone numbers within the building as well as on the Parent’s board on the playground.
