Stepping Stones is a character development programme which aims to provide pupils with an enjoyable, challenging and rewarding course of personal development which will enable them to become fully rounded, resilient and confident individuals.
Through their participation, they are investing in valuable skills and helping set the tone for a lifetime of achievement.
Our vision is that pupils throughout their time at Handforth Grange will find the thing that they love, this programme offers a breadth of activities in a range of different areas. As they progress through school and the programme they will have the opportunity to achieve excellence in one or more of the 5 strands.
Leadership: Sporting ability, physical literacy, team building, coaching, supporting others.
Volunteering: Helping others, charity, kindness, sharing, respect for environment.
Performing: Music, dance, oracy, presentation and communication skills.
Creativity: Skill in art and design, crafts, multimedia, creative writing, art appreciation.
World of Work: Core skills – numeracy, literacy, computing, general knowledge, pride, work ethic, resilience, career aspirations, confidence.
Children will each have a passport in which their progress can be tracked. They will be able to achieve up to four awards for each strand. These are called Emerging – aimed at our EYFS children, then Participation, Representation and Excellence across their time in school.
Badges will be presented in Achiever’s Assembly at the end of each half term to children who have achieved an award. The names of children who achieve Excellence in any strand will be listed on boards within the hall.
